“Who are we, who is each one of us, if not a combination of experiences, information, books we have read, things imagined?”
~ Italo Calvino
As an ardent fan of Calvino, I will use my loudest Shakespearean voice to say, ‘Hear ye! Hear ye! Truth hath been spoken.’
Of course, it is ridiculous to expect you guys to imagine my voice when I haven’t even bothered to introduce myself properly. But then again, for someone who is usually talkative, I am unusually pathetic at introductions. ‘How very contradictory!‘ did you say? There, you have me figured – well almost. I am a moving-walking-(mostly sleeping) bag of contradictions if there ever existed one. But through all the confusions of wanting to gorge on devil’s cake or stuff my face with spicy Bhel-puri (an Indian snack), don a chic dress to head out or simply curl up in my PJs, cook a healthy three-course meal or re-heat some frozen food (the list can go on but I will spare you the agony), if there’s one thing that’s stayed constant throughout the years, it has been my love for stories. Stories that painted images of faraway lands oozing exoticism. These images in-turn planted seeds of wanderlust and a passion to waltz with words.
The definitive allure of open roads, blue skies, green meadows, tall trees, towering mountains, gushing streams, still desert-lands, rising cliffs, lapping waves is hard to resist. I find solace out there, in the wide open arms of nature. Mistake me not, I love cities for the varied cultural experiences and the different cuisines they have to offer, but I just tend to be a tad bit biased towards natural beauty.
Like I mention in the Footprints section of my blog, my travel experiences have been altering me, filling me with inexplicable joy and instilling in me a deep reverence for all the secrets that the wide world has to offer. I hope to combine my love for words and imagery with pictures from my travel as a way to express how some landscapes have a lasting impression on me.
I look forward to sharing with you these stories from my travel escapades that are close to my heart. Here’s to new beginnings ! 🥂
“Travelling, you realise that differences are lost: each city takes to resembling all cities, places exchange their form, order, as distances, a shapeless dust cloud invades the continents.”
~ Italo Calvino
